Navua’s $3M Service Station Poised to Boost Fiji’s Economy

A new multi-million dollar service station in Navua is poised to significantly enhance the region’s infrastructure and boost economic development. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiated the groundbreaking ceremony, emphasizing that this development represents a strong vote of confidence in Fiji’s private sector and its potential to foster national growth.

The $3 million project, led by local company B. Prasad and Sons Limited in partnership with TotalEnergies Fiji, aims to do much more than simply serve as a fuel stop. It will incorporate rest areas for long-distance truck drivers, ample parking, retail services, and essential infrastructure that benefits the surrounding communities.

Rabuka highlighted that the construction and expected operation of the service station will generate direct employment opportunities for locals while creating new avenues for contractors, suppliers, and entrepreneurs. He pointed out the numerous advantages that local businesses like B. Prasad provide, such as reduced transportation costs, improved access to services, and the strengthening of supply chains, which collectively contribute to a resilient economy.

The Prime Minister also indicated that the service station aligns with the goals outlined in Fiji’s National Development Plan 2025–2030 and Vision 2050, including the decentralization of economic activities and the promotion of inclusive growth.

Scheduled for completion next year, the station will become a critical hub for transport and trade along Viti Levu’s central corridor. This positive initiative underscores the growing trend of collaboration between local businesses and community development, further reinforcing Fiji’s commitment to sustainable economic progress. As evidenced by similar projects like the recent openings by Pacific Energy in Nadi, which focus on community engagement and local partnerships, this new service station in Navua embodies hope and potential for future growth and development across Fiji.
