The Tebara Festival has officially commenced in Nausori, attracting significant crowds to Syria Park, despite the challenging weather conditions. This weeklong celebration is dedicated to cultural heritage, youth empowerment, and community pride, featuring eight contestants vying for the prestigious Miss Tebara crown as part of a broader initiative to promote women’s empowerment.

During the opening ceremony, Minister for Local Government Maciu Nalumisa expressed gratitude to the traditional landowners, sponsors, and organizers whose collaborative efforts made the event possible. “To the people of Nausori and the greater Tebara Region, this festival belongs to you. Your support, your attendance, and your pride ensure its success year after year,” Nalumisa stated.

He also emphasized the Coalition Government’s dedication to enhancing townships like Nausori through improved infrastructure, more robust municipal services, and the creation of shared community spaces, fostering a supportive environment for such events.

Gopal Jadhav, Chief Marketing Officer of major sponsor Punjas Fiji Limited, conveyed the company’s pride in supporting a well-rooted community event. “This is just the beginning; this festival is not just about celebration but also about looking ahead with optimism and confidence to what we can achieve together as a community,” Jadhav remarked.
