Starting this afternoon, rain is expected to spread across most regions of the country. The eastern coastline and Jeju Island are particularly warned of large waves.
According to meteorologist Kim Min-ji, there is already rain occurring in the eastern Gangwon region, South Jeolla, and Jeju. As the day progresses, rain clouds will expand into Chungcheong and southern regions, reaching the metropolitan area and other parts of the nation by night.
By tomorrow, areas such as eastern Gangwon, South Jeolla, Yeongnam, and Jeju could receive as much as 60mm of rain, while Chungcheong and North Jeolla provinces may see up to 50mm. Other regions, including Seoul, can expect between 10 to 40mm of rainfall. The heaviest downpours, with rates around 20mm per hour, are anticipated from early dawn until the morning, mainly in Chungcheong and southern regions, increasing the risk of safety incidents.
Additionally, due to the recent heavy rain in Gangwon Province, the ground has become weakened, leading to potential landslides.
Currently, the temperature in Seoul is at 16.4 degrees Celsius, which is expected to rise by 2 to 5 degrees higher during the day. Maximum temperatures are projected to reach 23 degrees in Seoul, 24 degrees in Cheongju, 23 degrees in Daegu, 25 degrees in Busan, and 24 degrees in Gwangju.
The rough seas along the eastern coast and Jeju are expected to continue, with storm warnings in effect for the southern East Sea and the eastern waters of the South Sea, leading to strong winds and high waves until the morning. Rain will be frequent throughout the week, but by Saturday morning, the rain should stop, giving way to clearer skies. However, temperatures are predicted to drop significantly starting Sunday.
