Protests are set to take place in Minnesota’s capital on Saturday in response to President Trump’s planned military parade in Washington, D.C. This event is part of the “No Kings: Nationwide Day of Defiance,” which aims to highlight what the organizers describe as the increasing authoritarianism and corruption associated with the Trump administration.

The St. Paul rally, organized by groups including Indivisible Twin Cities, MN 50501, Women’s March Minnesota, and the Minnesota AFL-CIO, will kick off at St. Paul College at 11 a.m., leading to a march to the State Capitol for a rally starting at 1 p.m. Key figures such as Governor Tim Walz, Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, and Attorney General Keith Ellison are expected to attend, along with activist Nekima Levy Armstrong.

Similar protests are occurring across the nation, with a notable chain of events previously held in April under the banner “Hands Off.” That protest criticized President Trump and Elon Musk for what was described as an assault on government and citizens’ rights.

The military parade to be conducted in Washington, D.C. is scheduled to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Army, coinciding with Trump’s 79th birthday. The event will feature 6,600 soldiers, approximately 150 vehicles, and 50 aircraft, although Army officials maintain they will not officially recognize the president’s milestone birthday during the parade.

The upcoming protests reflect a growing wave of civic engagement and activism across the country. Events like these illustrate the commitment of citizens to advocate for their rights and challenge authority when they feel it is being abused.
