Nagash DLC Tease Sparks End Times Hype for Total War: Warhammer 3

Nagash DLC Tease Sparks End Times Hype for Total War: Warhammer 3

Creative Assembly has teased fans of Total War: Warhammer 3 with a brief video hinting at exciting developments during the company’s 25th Anniversary showcase. The message accompanying the teaser, “He’s back! Do you dare to face him?” suggests that the highly anticipated new DLC will center around Nagash, the Supreme Lord of Undeath and the most formidable Necromancer in the Warhammer universe. The return of Nagash could signal the imminent arrival of the End Times in the game.

The trailer features a striking vortex of blue-green energy emerging from a magical ritual site, paired with intense combat between High Elves and zombies, all within a scene that resembles a significant event from Warhammer lore. Fans of the series will recognize this backdrop as the battle of Nine Daemons, where Arkhan the Black conducted the rituals that would resurrect Nagash.

Nagash is an immensely powerful entity, akin to a god of death, and his implementation in Total War: Warhammer 3 is expected to reshape the gameplay dynamics significantly. He was previously so powerful in the tabletop version that he commanded a staggering 1,000 points to field, consuming half the budget of a typical army and marking him as the most valuable unit available.

The reintroduction of Nagash also portends even larger events, specifically the End Times. From 2014 to 2015, Games Workshop expanded Warhammer Fantasy Battles through five supplements, beginning with The Return of Nagash. This era represented a catastrophic turning point for the Warhammer World, introducing various new units, including colossal heroes like Grey Seer Thanquol and Archaon the Everchosen.

The prospect of the End Times theme raises interesting questions about Creative Assembly’s future plans. Many fans speculate that the company could release a series of DLC based on the original End Times supplements, potentially introducing new Legendary Lords and campaign content for existing characters. Such additions could pave the way for an eventual transition to Total War: Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

The full details will be revealed at Creative Assembly’s 25th Anniversary Showcase on December 4. Until then, fans are encouraged to join discussions in the Wargamer Discord community and stay updated on all news concerning both Warhammer and Total War through the Wargamer newsletter. The anticipation surrounding this development is palpable, and many fans are eager to see how these beloved characters and storylines will be brought to life in the upcoming DLC.
