Nabil Begg’s Bold Leap: Islander Chooses Pro Football with Bula FC

Nabil Begg, the eldest son in his family, has made a significant choice by opting for a professional football career over university, and this decision is poised to pay off as he joins Bula FC. As the club’s eighth signing, Begg attributes his success to the unwavering support from his family.

“I feel very blessed. It’s not easy for island boys to get a professional contract, so now that I’m given the opportunity, I’m going to give everything,” he expressed, emphasizing his dedication to work hard, represent his family, and seize this chance.

Begg grew up in the soccer-loving town of Ba, where he developed a love for the sport at a young age, playing with his brothers in their backyard when he was just five years old. His passion flourished as he went on to represent Varavu Primary School in both U12 and U14 competitions. Throughout high school, he became an integral part of Kamil Colleges’ U16 and U18 teams.

At 15, his career took a pivotal turn when he impressed former Ba head coach Kamil Swamy during the NCC tournament, leading to his promotion to the Ba Senior team. Making his debut at the age of 16, Begg’s journey in football includes participation in the U20 World Cup, the U23 team, and the national squad.

As he steps into this new and exciting phase of his career with Bula FC, Begg is counting on his family’s support once again to help him shine on the pitch in the upcoming OFC League next year. His story is an inspiring reminder of how determination and familial support can lead to new beginnings in pursuit of a dream.
