Caddo Lake, situated in the ArkLaTex region, is the setting for a new film that has recently completed production. Named after the lake itself, the movie was shot in both Louisiana and Texas, featuring many local extras from the area.
The film, which is now available for streaming on Max, is produced by M. Night Shyamalan and directed by Celine Held and Logan George. It falls within the horror/mystery genre and follows the story of an 8-year-old girl who mysteriously disappears, prompting connections to previous deaths and disappearances that change a fractured family’s history.
Casting calls took place in August 2021, where local actors from East Texas and Shreveport were auditioned. Additionally, a vehicle casting call was held in October 2021, seeking vehicles manufactured between 1998 and 2004.
One local actor, Zedrick Tinsley, expressed his excitement about attending the New York premiere alongside the movie’s stars and creators. He mentioned his desire to pursue more acting opportunities in the future, noting the casting director’s preference for local talent, which can add authenticity to the film.
According to assistant production manager Tony Yuse, the film employed around 120 crew members each day over a period of 36 days. Approximately 65% of the cast hailed from Shreveport, with 25% from other parts of Louisiana, and a small percentage from places like New York and Los Angeles. All extras featured in the film were sourced from the ArkLaTex region.
Wade Marshall, the film and entertainment commissioner for Visit Shreveport-Bossier, highlighted the impact of the project on local employment for crewmembers and vendors. He is optimistic that the film will attract tourists to Caddo Lake and its vicinity. “Caddo Lake” is set to premiere on Max on Thursday, October 10.
