Authorities in Turks and Caicos are investigating the disappearance of Brian Tarrence, a 51-year-old man from New York City. Tarrence was last seen at the Paradise Inn on June 25. A missing persons flyer released by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force indicates that he left his condominium around 4:00 a.m. on that date and headed towards the town in Grace Bay.
According to Carl DeFazio, a private investigator hired by Tarrence’s family, security footage confirmed that he was seen leaving his accommodations while his wife was asleep. Notably, she found it unusual for him to be up at such an early hour, as she had last seen him watching TV before going to bed around 7:00 p.m. the previous night.
The couple had enjoyed a boat trip together just before his disappearance, but according to DeFazio, Tarrence had been acting differently than usual, which could possibly be attributed to dehydration. The investigator noted that Tarrence’s speech was also described as unusual the night before he went missing.
Local authorities have initiated a search, and the U.S. State Department is in communication with local officials, emphasizing their commitment to the safety of American citizens abroad. They are aware of Tarrence’s disappearance and are monitoring the situation closely.
DeFazio mentioned that Tarrence left with his phone but has not made any transactions since his disappearance, raising concerns. The local police are attempting to access his phone records as investigations continue. Tarrence’s wife briefly returned to the U.S. but is expected back on the island to continue the search.
This situation underscores the importance of community and family support during distressing times. The cooperation between local authorities and Tarrence’s family highlights the hope for a positive resolution to this distressing incident.
