Musk’s Controversial Claims: A Battle Over Gender Identity and Family Ties

Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently expressed his controversial views regarding his transgender daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, claiming that she was “killed” after receiving gender-affirming care. He made these remarks during an interview with psychologist Jordan Peterson, asserting that he is committed to “destroying the woke mind virus.”

Musk described gender-reassignment surgery as “child mutilation and sterilization” and stated that his daughter came out as transgender at the age of 16 and received gender-affirming care during the pandemic. He claimed he was misled into signing necessary documents, suggesting that concerns over his child’s mental health influenced his decisions amidst the chaos of COVID-19.

He criticized the practice of providing gender-affirming care to minors, emphasizing that it is done to individuals “far below the age of consent” and echoing Peterson’s sentiment that promoting such procedures is “incredibly evil.” Musk also disputed the understanding of puberty blockers, asserting that no one informed him they were essentially sterilization drugs, although it should be noted that puberty blockers do not inherently impact fertility.

Musk lamented the loss of his son, stating that the term ‘deadnaming’ reflects that his son is “dead” to him now, following the name change. His remarks come shortly after announcing the relocation of X and SpaceX to Texas, aligning with his opposition to California’s AB1955 legislation, which supports LGBTQ+ rights in schools.

Wilson, who legally sought a name change last year to dissociate from Musk, reportedly blames her progressive education for their estrangement, a relationship Musk attributes to these educational influences. Over the years, Musk has shifted from his formerly center-left political stance to embrace more right-wing viewpoints, including support for figures like Donald Trump and J.D. Vance.
