Jacob Soboroff is joining the MSNBC team as it transitions from Comcast and sister network NBC News later this year. He will take on the role of senior national and political correspondent at the network.

Previously, Soboroff served as NBC News’ political and national correspondent, where he reported on major events such as presidential campaigns, elections, and the 2018 family separation crisis. Earlier this year, he provided firsthand accounts of the Los Angeles wildfires, which had a personal impact on him, as he is from the area. His experiences during these wildfires will also be detailed in his upcoming book, “Firestorm,” set for release on January 6.

Continuing his focus on immigration issues, Soboroff reported on ICE raids in Los Angeles. His expertise in this area is further reflected in his book “Separated: Inside an American Tragedy,” and he served as the executive producer for the documentary “Separated,” directed by Errol Morris.

Soboroff has been a part of the MSNBC family since 2015 and is set to feature in the network’s live event, MSNBCLIVE ’25, taking place on October 11. As MSNBC separates from NBC News, it is strengthening its own news division, marking a new chapter for the network as it reestablishes its identity under the newly formed company, Versant, which encompasses former Comcast cable channels and additional assets.

This restructuring opens exciting opportunities for Soboroff and the MSNBC team to continue delivering impactful journalism. His diverse background and deep understanding of significant social issues can contribute to raising awareness and fostering informed discussions among viewers.
