MSNBC is set to undergo a significant rebranding, officially changing its name to MS NOW on November 15. The new name, which stands for “My Source for News, Opinion, and the World,” will replace the longtime network branding, which has been synonymous with liberal news since its inception in 1996. Along with the name change, the network will also abandon NBC’s iconic peacock logo in favor of a fresh red, white, and blue color scheme.

Despite the new branding, MSNBC emphasizes that its editorial direction, mission, and team will remain intact. The network confirmed that viewers can expect the same trusted hosts and journalists covering news from Washington, across the nation, and worldwide. The channel number and program scheduling will also remain unchanged.

In an announcement on October 27, the network reiterated its commitment to providing justice, progress, and truth, assuring audiences that the familiar faces they trust will still grace their screens at the same times.

This rebranding follows an August announcement about MSNBC’s integration into Versant, a newly formed entity spun off from most of NBCUniversal’s U.S. cable television networks. The network’s president, Rebecca Kutler, noted that this transition necessitated a fresh identity to allow them to carve their own path and enhance their modern newsgathering capabilities.

MSNBC has built a reputation over nearly three decades for delivering a mix of breaking news and left-leaning opinion programming, with popular shows including “The Rachel Maddow Show,” “Morning Joe,” and “Briefing with Jen Psaki.” As MS NOW, the network aims to continue its legacy while embracing a new chapter as an independent news source.
