MOUNT UNION — Mount Union’s football team is once again set for a shot at glory. The Purple Raiders triumphantly defeated Johns Hopkins 45-37 on Saturday, marking their advancement to the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl for the impressive 23rd time. They will compete for the NCAA Division III national championship against either North Central or Susquehanna on January 5 in Houston.
Tyler Echeverry was a standout player for Mount Union, rushing for 183 yards and scoring three touchdowns. He was supported by teammates Darnell Williams, Shaun Thomas, and quarterback TJ DeShields, all of whom contributed touchdowns. DeShields also threw for 218 yards, with Tyrell Sanders making a significant contribution with seven catches for 148 yards.
