Moses Simon Set to Face Nantes After Emotional Paris FC Move

Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has opened up about his heartfelt departure from Nantes as he prepares to face his former club this weekend with Paris FC. In a pre-match press conference on Thursday, Simon expressed his sadness at leaving Nantes, a club where he forged a deep connection with the fans over the years.

Reflecting on his time at Nantes, Simon stated, “I was a little sad to leave; I could have stayed in Nantes for 20 years. I had a strong bond with the supporters. I kept the Nantes jersey in my heart. I still have it at home.” His emotional farewell highlights the affection he has for the club, where he spent six seasons, beginning with a loan in August 2019 that turned into a permanent deal a year later.

Despite his fondness for Nantes, Simon explained his decision to join Paris FC, citing the ambition of the newly promoted club as a significant factor. “There’s also ambition at Nantes, but here, we feel more of a desire to do something,” he noted. He expressed excitement about reuniting with friends and emphasized his desire to win, declaring, “It’s an important match for me and the club.”

Simon’s move to Paris FC was confirmed during the summer transfer window, securing a three-year contract through to June 2028 for a reported fee of €7 million. Since joining Paris, he has already made a significant impact, scoring the winning goal in a thrilling 3-2 victory against Metz in Ligue 1.

During his time at Nantes, Simon was a pivotal player, making approximately 177 appearances in the league and contributing 37 goals and 42 assists. His tenure also included a memorable triumph, as he played a crucial role in winning the Coupe de France during the 2021/22 season. As he prepares for the upcoming match, Simon looks forward to a competitive encounter against a club that holds special memories for him.
