Daniela Monroy shared her thoughts ahead of the highly anticipated match between Monterrey and Cruz Azul, the team she began her career with at the age of 20. Despite her history with the Celeste club, Monroy emphasized her commitment to Rayadas, expressing her happiness in her current role.

As Monterrey prepares to face Cruz Azul Femenil, Monroy feels optimistic about the challenge that La Máquina presents to her team. “Right now, I work for Monterrey. I owe it to Monterrey, and I’m very happy here. It’s a beautiful match, just like all the others, and I can’t wait to enjoy it,” she stated.

Monroy had her debut for Cruz Azul at the start of Liga MX, where she played until Apertura 2023. During her time with Rayadas, which she joined ahead of Clausura 2024, she has celebrated significant achievements, including a bicampeonato. Presently, Rayadas sits atop the league table with a perfect record of 9 points from 9 possible, under the leadership of French coach Amandine Miquel.

“We know this is just the beginning. We’re calm but very focused on continuing to improve and adapting to everything that the ‘Profe’ asks from us,” Monroy explained.

Despite their unbeaten status, she acknowledged the importance of respecting their opponents, especially against Cruz Azul, who currently ranks fifth in the standings. Monroy recalled the last matchup, which ended in a hefty 4-0 defeat for Rayadas in August. “We’ve learned not to underestimate any opponent. We know that if we perform our tasks well, we can keep the match scoreless,” she remarked.

She also noted the lessons learned from previous defeats, viewing this upcoming match as an opportunity to showcase the improvement and competitive spirit of the Rayadas. “We must maintain our standards. Rayadas is always at the top, and we aim to keep it that way.”

Monroy highlighted the fresh perspective brought in by Amandine Miquel, who joined following the departure of former coach Amelia Valverde and the interim tenure of Leonardo Álvarez. “We’re adapting to many good ideas the ‘Profe’ has introduced. We’re on the right path, progressing and winning,” she concluded.

As the season unfolds, Rayadas look poised not just to improve upon their past performances, but to strive for the championship, aiming to maintain their lead and continue making strides under the new coaching regime.
