Monica Seles has recently opened up about her struggles with a serious health issue that has deeply affected her life. The former tennis champion shared that she began to experience troubling symptoms, such as difficulty tracking a single tennis ball while playing with family. “I would think: ‘But I see two balls’. Those are obviously symptoms that you cannot ignore,” she recounted, highlighting the confusion and frustration she felt as her body began to betray her.

The process of reaching a proper diagnosis was intense and exhausting for Seles. Tasks that once seemed trivial, like drying her hair, became nearly impossible due to the muscle weakness caused by her condition. When doctors finally diagnosed her with myasthenia gravis, a rare autoimmune disorder, it left her in shock. “When they gave me the diagnosis, I wondered: ‘What?!’,” she admitted.

Seles expressed a desire for greater awareness about myasthenia gravis, emphasizing that she wished someone had spoken out publicly about the disease when she first encountered it. This prompted her decision to share her story and raise awareness about the challenges of living with such a condition, aiming to support others who might be facing similar struggles.

Amid her challenges, Seles remains steadfast in her mission to educate and inspire. Through her willingness to discuss her health openly, she hopes to shed light on myasthenia gravis and encourage others to seek help and understand their health better.
