Jason Momoa is proud of his 16-year-old son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, for securing a role in the upcoming Dune: Part Three, and he wants him to pave his own path in the entertainment industry without relying on his father’s fame. In an interview with Extra, Momoa emphasized that he refrained from helping his son land the role, indicating that this experience will serve as a significant learning opportunity for Nakoa-Wolf.
“This is a rude awakening for him,” Momoa shared about his son’s first experience in the workforce. He celebrates Nakoa-Wolf’s achievement, noting, “He did it on his own. I don’t want to help him, and good for him.” Reflecting on his son’s talent, Momoa expressed his belief that Nakoa-Wolf can surpass him, acknowledging that his own career began at a much younger age in a completely different environment. “There’s no way I could sit in a room with Denis Villeneuve and hold my own. He’s 16 and holding it down with Denis Villeneuve,” he remarked.
In the eagerly anticipated third installment of the Dune saga, Nakoa-Wolf will portray Leto II, opposite Ida Brooke’s character, Ghanima. The twins are the offspring of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides and Zendaya’s Chani in Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah.
Momoa, who previously portrayed Duncan Idaho in Dune: Part One and will return for the third film after being absent from Part Two, also expressed pride in the foundation he and ex-wife Lisa Bonet have given their children. “We raised our children to be loved and confident in themselves,” he stated, underscoring Nakoa-Wolf’s strong self-assurance and readiness to take on this new challenge.
This situation offers an inspiring glimpse into the balance between parental support and individual achievement, showcasing a young talent’s journey in an environment where legacy often overshadows personal accomplishments. Momoa’s emphasis on independence not only speaks to his parenting philosophy but also highlights the importance of confidence and self-reliance in pursuing one’s dreams.
