“MLB Draft 2024: Top Picks and Surprises Revealed!”

The first two rounds of the 2024 MLB Draft concluded on Sunday night, marking the beginning of many players’ professional baseball journeys.

Held in Fort Worth, Texas, the draft spotlighted Oregon State second baseman Travis Bazzana, who was selected first overall by the Cleveland Guardians. Bazzana made history as the first second baseman and the first Australian to be picked first in the MLB Draft.

Wake Forest had an impressive showing, with three players going in the top 10. Right-handed pitcher Chase Burns was taken second by the Cincinnati Reds, first baseman Nick Kurtz went fifth to the Oakland Athletics, and shortstop Seaver King was chosen 10th by the Washington Nationals.

Two Texas A&M players also made headlines in the first two rounds. Outfielder Braden Montgomery was picked 12th by the Boston Red Sox, and high-velocity right-handed pitcher Chris Cortez went 45th to the Los Angeles Angels.
