Mitski is making a highly anticipated return with the announcement of her upcoming album, titled “Nothing’s About to Happen to Me,” set to release on February 27. This marks her eighth studio project, following her 2023 album “The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We.”

Fans first caught wind of the new music during the conclusion of her concert film, “The Land,” where Mitski playfully pretended to be unaware of a forthcoming album in a post-credits scene. Beyond her solo efforts, Mitski contributed to Florence and the Machine’s recent album “Everybody Scream,” released in October.

Recently, she stirred excitement on social media by cleaning out her Instagram feed and sharing a mysterious video of herself singing in a messy kitchen. To build further intrigue, she posted a short clip of herself walking through a door, whispering the album’s title to the camera. In a clever move, she also redirected fans to the website wheresmyphone.net in her bio.

The album cover features a striking image of a white cat, which interestingly is also the title of one of the tracks on the album, alongside another called “Cats.”

As fans eagerly await the album’s release, they won’t have to wait long for new music, as the first single, “Where’s My Phone?,” is set to drop on January 16, promising to lead into a new era for Mitski’s artistry. Her return is not only exciting for long-time fans but also hints at her continued evolution as a songwriter and performer.
