Missouri football showcased its strength by defeating Boston College 27-21 on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Columbia. The Tigers, ranked No. 6/8, improved to 3-0 for the season, thanks to a pivotal performance from Luther Burden III.
With time winding down in the first half and Missouri trailing by a touchdown, Burden executed an impressive 19-yard touchdown run, weaving through defenders to find the end zone. The Tigers then successfully converted a two-point attempt, tying the game. This touchdown followed an interception by safety Tre’Vez Johnson, which shifted the game’s momentum.
Blake Craig contributed to the scoring, successfully kicking a remarkable 55-yard field goal just before halftime to give Missouri a 17-14 lead. Following the break, quarterback Brady Cook added to the Tigers’ score with a quarterback rush for a touchdown.
Despite some challenges from Boston College, which included a 67-yard touchdown pass from Thomas Castellanos to Reed Harris, Missouri managed to regain control. The Eagles had previously scored the first points against the Tigers’ defense this season. Missouri’s defense tightened up after a few missteps, with Cook finishing the game with 264 passing yards on 21 completions out of 30 attempts and Burden contributing six catches for 117 yards.
The game saw moments of tension, particularly in the final quarter, when Boston College narrowed the gap, making it a one-score game with another touchdown. However, late-game efforts from Cook, including crucial third-down conversions, allowed Missouri to maintain their lead.
Overall, the win against Boston College marked an important achievement for Missouri as they continue their season with strong performances and aim to build on their early success.
