A brush fire erupted on Monday afternoon in Fallbrook, North County, engulfing approximately 15 acres. The incident began near the 5000 block of South Mission Road, with Cal Fire and San Diego County Fire firefighters rapidly responding to the scene.

The blaze, identified as the Mission 2 Fire, poses a threat to nearby structures along Sweetgrass Lane and La Canada Road, in proximity to the River Village Plaza shopping area at the intersection of South Mission and state Route 76, adjacent to the San Luis Rey River.

Evacuation orders have been issued for residents in specific zones east of South Mission Road, north of state Route 76, and southwest of Via Monserate. Meanwhile, evacuation warnings are in place for areas between South Mission and Grid roads, including regions south of Sycamore Drive and Knottwood Way, and north of Via Monserate.

Firefighting aircraft are actively engaged in the battle against the flames, conducting water and retardant drops in coordination with Cal Fire. Firefighters have successfully protected nearby structures, utilizing roads behind larger estates to create effective firebreaks.

This ongoing situation highlights the importance of emergency preparedness and quick response in fire-prone areas. Residents are urged to stay informed of the latest developments and follow any evacuation protocols as the situation evolves.
