The search for the missing Philadelphia woman, Kada Scott, continues as District Attorney Larry Krasner provided updates regarding the investigation and the arrest of suspect Keon King. A press conference was held on Friday, Oct. 17, where Krasner noted the collective efforts of the Philadelphia Police and the FBI in the ongoing investigation.
Krasner emphasized that since King’s arrest, other victims have come forward, and he urged anyone with information regarding Scott’s whereabouts or King’s past actions to step forward. “I’m asking you, please come forward. All Philadelphians,” he stated, appealing for any lead, however small, that might assist in locating Scott.
Kada Scott, 23, was last seen on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, when she left her home for a shift at the Terrace at Chestnut Hill nursing home. Her family reported her missing after she failed to complete her shift. Police later found her parked car at the nursing home, but there has been no activity from her cellphone since her disappearance. Scott had mentioned to her family that she was being harassed through phone messages prior to going missing.
As the investigation unfolded, authorities identified Keon King, 23, as the last person seen with Scott before her vanishing. King surrendered to police on Oct. 14, and his arrest was announced the following day. He is believed to have been connected to Scott’s case through a gold 1999 Toyota Camry that he owned and is suspected of having driven with Scott inside.
During the investigation, police also recovered a cellphone case near an abandoned middle school and found King’s vehicle at the Gypsy Lane Condominiums, where he has family ties.
King has an extensive criminal record, including a prior kidnapping and assault case that had been withdrawn earlier this year due to the victim’s absence in court. Krasner, addressing the earlier case’s circumstances, expressed concern over the cash bail system, noting that King’s bail was set too low, allowing him to quickly secure his release. He criticized the systemic issues related to the bail process, suggesting that they hinder the prosecution of serious crimes.
Former judge Patrick Dugan, running against Krasner in the upcoming 2025 district attorney race, highlighted these concerns in a statement, criticizing Krasner’s office for its handling of the initial case against King, arguing that frequent withdrawals indicate unpreparedness.
Keon King faces multiple charges, including kidnapping for ransom, false imprisonment, and stalking, among others, in relation to Scott’s disappearance. His bail has been set at 10% of $2,500,000, and he remains incarcerated at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility, awaiting further legal proceedings.
The investigation into Kada Scott’s disappearance remains active, with authorities urging anyone with information to contact the Philadelphia Police. Meanwhile, Scott’s family has set up a GoFundMe page that has collected over $11,514 as a reward for information leading to her location.
