Hannah Kobayashi, a 30-year-old woman from Maui, has returned to the U.S. after being reported missing in Los Angeles since November. In a statement shared through her aunt Larie Pidgeon, Kobayashi expressed that she is “still processing it all” and requested privacy for herself and her loved ones during this period of adjustment.

Kobayashi was last known to have been traveling from Hawaii to New York City but missed her flight at Los Angeles International Airport on November 8, triggering an extensive search. She was spotted crossing the border into Mexico on November 12, remaining unaccounted for until reconnection with family in December.

The Los Angeles Police Department has since closed Kobayashi’s missing persons case following confirmation of her return to the U.S. In her statement, she expressed gratitude for the support she received during her absence and emphasized that she was unaware of the media coverage concerning her situation.

Kobayashi’s narrative is a poignant reminder of the importance of empathy in difficult times. While her experience was undoubtedly challenging, her return marks a hopeful chapter for her and her family. The focus now shifts towards her healing journey, which she approaches with optimism and determination.

Further details regarding her time in Mexico remain unclear, but it is commendable that she is prioritizing her well-being during this unique circumstance.
