A father and his young daughter experienced a harrowing ordeal while aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship, falling overboard as the ship departed from the Bahamas on Sunday morning. Fortunately, both were rescued by the ship’s crew, highlighting their quick response in a critical situation.
According to an updated statement from the Broward County sheriff’s office, the incident occurred when the 5-year-old girl, who was seated on a railing, lost her balance and fell through a porthole. Her mother, witnessing the fall, alerted her husband, who then bravely jumped into the ocean to save his child.
The father, aged 37, successfully located his daughter in the water, and both of them managed to stay afloat until they were rescued approximately 20 minutes later by a tender ship dispatched from the cruise liner.
The sheriff’s office has stated there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the fall, although they are still investigating the incident to gather more information.
