Minecraft Copper Age and Mounts of Mayhem: What’s Next for the Update

The recent September Minecraft Live showcase delivered an exciting glimpse into the future of the game with two major updates: The Copper Age and Mounts of Mayhem. These updates promise to bring fresh and engaging features that will enhance the Minecraft experience for players.

The highly anticipated Copper Age is set to transform Minecraft’s gameplay mechanics when it launches on September 30. Copper, a material that many fans have been eager to see play a more integral role in the game, will now be essential for crafting tools, armor, weapons, torches, lanterns, and chains. The arrival of copper fills a previously significant gap between iron and gold in terms of protection, damage, and durability. Additionally, the update will introduce the Shelf, a new furniture piece that combines the utility of a storage item and a decorative frame, accommodating entire stacks within its three-space design.

Adding further excitement, the Mounts of Mayhem expansion, slated for a late 2025 release, will introduce several dynamic new features. Among them is a tiered weapon called the Spear, offering players a novel combat option both on foot and while riding mounts. The weapon’s damage scales with speed, allowing for strategic and high-impact attacks against adversaries.

Underwater exploration will take a new turn with the introduction of the Nautilus mount. This aquatic companion, which can be tamed with Pufferfish, offers the convenience of extended underwater exploration without the need to resurface for air, thanks to its special ability that halts air consumption. However, players need to remain vigilant against the perilous Zombie Nautilus variant, which poses a formidable threat.

For those exploring the land, the update will also introduce the Zombie Horse to Survival mode, allowing players to encounter these creatures beyond Creative mode for the first time. While the riders of these undead mounts may be menacing, the horses themselves are passive towards players.

As these developments unfold, testing for Mounts of Mayhem is expected to commence soon via Bedrock previews and Java snapshots. Additionally, fans can look forward to a special celebration of the new Happy Ghast mob from Chase the Skies and the upcoming release of a Dragon Ball Z DLC.

The Minecraft community eagerly anticipates these updates as they add depth and excitement to one of the world’s most beloved sandbox games.
