Miley Cyrus has unveiled her latest album, titled “Something Beautiful,” which serves as a follow-up to her 2023 release “Endless Summer Vacation.” The new album features a rich collaboration of talented musicians including Jonathan Rado from Foxygen, Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, and Adam Granduciel from The War on Drugs. Cyrus took on the role of executive producer alongside Shawn Everett, who contributed by playing various instruments and handling the mixing and mastering at Subtle McNugget Studios in Los Angeles.
The album showcases an impressive roster of contributors, such as Bibi Bourelly, Nick Hakim, and members of Alvvays—Molly Rankin and Alec O’Hanley—alongside renowned figures like Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Danielle Haim of Haim. Notably, Cyrus incorporates a sample of Marie Davidson’s “Work It (Soulwax Remix)” into the project.
Cyrus first teased the release of “Something Beautiful” back in March, and the album is accompanied by a short film that she co-directed with Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter, set to be theatrically released in June. Prior to the album’s full release, Cyrus shared several singles, including “Prelude,” “Something Beautiful,” “End of the World,” and “More to Lose.”
In discussing the inspiration behind her new work, Cyrus expressed her aim to create a modern version of Pink Floyd’s “The Wall,” remarking, “My idea was making The Wall, but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture,” reflecting her artistic vision.
With its star-studded lineup and ambitious concepts, “Something Beautiful” marks another exciting chapter in Cyrus’s evolving musical journey, continuing to blend her personal influences with broader cultural references. This album exemplifies her growth as an artist and could resonate with a wide audience, bridging classic rock influences with contemporary pop elements.
