AC Milan is reportedly eyeing Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka as a potential alternative to pursue in the summer transfer window. As the Rossoneri aim to enhance their midfield roster ahead of the 2025-26 season, the club has also been linked to former Juventus player Adrien Rabiot, who is familiar to new head coach Massimiliano Allegri.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Xhaka, who is 32 years old, has a contract with Leverkusen extending until the summer of 2028. However, with expected changes in the squad following the departure of head coach Xabi Alonso and star player Jeremie Frimpong, there may be an opportunity for Xhaka to leave if an appealing offer is presented.
Reports indicate that an offer around €15 million could persuade Leverkusen to consider selling Xhaka, with total deal costs potentially reaching up to €20 million. Additionally, his current employment contract is described as financially manageable, as he earns approximately €2 million to €2.5 million annually.
This development highlights Milan’s proactive approach to scouting experienced talent for their midfield, aiming to build a team capable of competing at the highest level. Xhaka’s proven track record in top-flight European football makes him an intriguing prospect as Milan prepares for significant rebuilding efforts.
