As the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics commence, the attention of the world turns to teams proudly showcasing their national uniforms during the opening ceremony scheduled for Friday. Team USA, dressed in outfits designed by Ralph Lauren, is among the nations highlighting their unique styles.

This year’s Winter Olympics is particularly momentous, as it is the first to be hosted by two cities and will be the most geographically extensive in Winter Games history. The event will feature 116 medal events, including ski mountaineering making its Olympic debut, running through February 22. Following the Winter Olympics, the Paralympics are set to take place from March 6 to March 15.

Team USA’s uniforms are a result of Ralph Lauren’s longstanding tradition of outfitting the American team for nearly two decades. The opening ceremony ensemble features a wool coat in winter-white, complemented by traditional wooden toggles, wool trousers, and a striking intarsia wool sweater showcasing the American flag. This is paired with a vibrant knit hat and mittens, a leather belt, and stylish suede alpine boots equipped with red laces. David Lauren, the company’s chief branding and innovation officer, expressed pride in the designs that capture both timelessness and modernity, all while respecting Milan’s rich fashion heritage.

In contrast, Team Canada’s outfits, designed by athletic apparel brand Lululemon, focus on innovation and inclusion. The uniforms feature maple leaf motifs and colors reflecting the stunning Canadian landscape, designed with athletes’ needs in mind. This marks Lululemon’s third Olympic uniform design for the Canadian team.

Team Mexico’s ensembles, created by Charly, reflect a commitment to hard work and passion, symbolizing their journey to these prestigious Games, particularly highlighted by President Claudia Sheinbaum leading their delegation.

Team GB continues its collaboration with Ben Sherman for the fourth consecutive time, drawing inspiration from the Dolomite Mountains to create a blend of heritage checks and knitwear, culminating in a collection that is both stylish and practical.

Italian athletes will don uniforms designed by EA7 Emporio Armani, which include a distinctive down jacket and accessories that honor Italy’s sporting spirit, maintaining a tradition that has spanned since the London Games in 2012.

Mongolia also shines with its ceremonial outfits created by Goyol Cashmere, representing resilience and cultural pride, crafted from the finest cashmere and inspired by ancient Mongolian attire. Meanwhile, Team Germany’s uniforms crafted by Adidas are designed to meet the needs of winter sports while encapsulating the essence of the Olympic spirit.

Lastly, Team Brazil, adorned by Moncler in collaboration with designer Oskar Metsavaht, celebrates the fusion of Brazilian creativity with winter sports heritage. This moment symbolizes a significant return for Moncler, which historically outfitted winning teams in past Olympic Games.

As the excitement builds for the opening ceremony, these unique designs not only serve to showcase national pride but also reflect the creative talents and cultural narratives from around the globe, uniting athletes in competition and celebration during this grand sporting event.
