Mid-South Holiday Week Forecast: Rain Start, Sunshine Ahead, and a Chilly Thanksgiving

As the holiday week begins in the Mid-South, clouds have returned to the region, signaling a shift in weather patterns. Rain is expected to start off scattered but will become more widespread throughout the day, with thunderstorms potentially becoming gusty overnight. Daytime highs will reach the lower 60s, while temperatures will drop into the upper 50s and lower 60s as rain becomes more likely.

On Tuesday, rain will continue early but is expected to taper off as a cold front moves through the area. Temperatures will rise into the middle to upper 60s, with mostly cloudy skies. Conditions will gradually improve as the skies clear, leading to lows in the 40s by early Wednesday morning.

Looking ahead, the extended forecast is optimistic. With one of the busiest travel days of the year on the horizon, the weather will quiet down as colder, drier air advances into the region. Wednesday will see a return of sunshine, bringing highs in the middle 50s. Thanksgiving Day promises to be chilly yet pleasant, with more sun and temperatures reaching the upper 40s to lower 50s. Black Friday is expected to follow suit with similar weather conditions. However, a First Alert has been issued for another unsettled weather pattern anticipated to develop as the weekend approaches and into the first week of December.

In a fun addition for families, Action News 5 has reintroduced the popular “COLOR THE WEATHER” program in partnership with McDonald’s. Each morning during the 6 AM hour, meteorologist Patrick Ellis will feature a colorable weather photo on air. Families can pick up coloring sheets at participating Memphis McDonald’s or download them online, color them, and submit their artwork for a chance to be showcased on television.

With the weather improving for the holiday week and family-friendly activities available, residents are encouraged to make the most of this season.
