Microsoft has announced that it has successfully restored the majority of its application services, including Outlook and Teams, which were affected by outages on Monday morning. As of approximately 11 p.m. ET, the tech giant confirmed that all services have returned to normal functionality, with the exception of Outlook on the web, which continues to face issues for a limited number of users.
In its statement, Microsoft indicated that it is actively working to resolve the remaining problems with Outlook on the web and is also addressing delays related to mail queueing. The outage originally impacted access to Exchange Online and caused disruptions in the functionality of Microsoft Teams Calendar.
The issues began early on Monday, with DownDetector, a service monitoring tech outages, reporting problems around 8 a.m. ET. By late morning, thousands of users had shared their frustrations on social media platforms, highlighting how the interruptions affected their work productivity.
This recent outage comes on the heels of another significant disruption experienced by Microsoft 365 services just a few months prior, in September.
Despite the challenges faced by users during this downtime, many took to social media to express their disappointment. One user remarked, “#Microsoft outages to my planned productive work day,” while another expressed urgency for a resolution, saying, “Microsoft, I need you guys to fix this Outlook outage. A girl is trying to push out all her work before this holiday.”
