Michigan Wolverines Face Key Test as Justice Haynes Listed Questionable

Michigan football may face a challenging situation as running back Justice Haynes, the team’s standout offensive player, is listed as “questionable” for their upcoming game. Haynes left last week’s 31-13 defeat to USC with a midsection injury, and while he could have potentially played in the second half, the coaching staff opted to proceed with caution regarding his health.

Haynes has been a key player under the new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey this season, showcasing impressive stats with 95 carries for 705 yards and eight touchdowns—leading the team in all categories through the first six games. His performances have garnered attention, with coach Sherrone Moore praising him as an “animal” and advocating for Heisman consideration.

In the event that Haynes is unable to play, redshirt freshman Jordan Marshall will likely take on more responsibility in the ground game. Marshall has rushed for 301 yards and three touchdowns this season, although his numbers reflect a marked difference compared to Haynes. With a challenge ahead, U-M may also rely more on quarterback Bryce Underwood’s rushing abilities.

Additionally, the team will be missing starting tight end Marlin Klein, who recently sustained a lower body injury during practice after previously making a strong impact in the season opener. Over the past four weeks, Klein has struggled to replicate his early success, catching only six passes for 49 yards.

Another injury concern for Michigan is starting defensive tackle Trey Pierce, who is also listed as questionable. He left the USC game due to a lower body injury and has been recognized as one of the top performers on the defensive front, despite modest tackle numbers.

As Michigan prepares to face their next opponent, the health and availability of key players like Haynes and Pierce will be crucial to the team’s success. The Wolverines will aim to overcome these challenges and continue to strengthen their campaign in the 2025 season.
