Chip Lindsey’s brief tenure with Michigan football has come to an end after just one season. The Wolverines are now on the hunt for a new offensive coordinator, as Lindsey has accepted a position with Missouri under head coach Eli Drinkwitz, who recently received a contract extension.

Lindsey’s participation in Michigan’s upcoming bowl game against Texas is uncertain, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. The Wolverines now find themselves preparing for their fifth offensive coordinator in five years. This turnover includes Matt Weiss, who was fired in 2022, Sherrone Moore, who was promoted but later terminated due to a personal scandal, Kirk Campbell, who also faced dismissal, and now Lindsey, who will be heading to Columbia, Missouri.

At 51 years old, Lindsey came to Michigan in December 2024 after two successful seasons as offensive coordinator at North Carolina. His time with the Wolverines included significant games, such as the rivalry clash against Ohio State.

As Michigan conducts its coaching search, they face the challenge of attracting top candidates who have chosen to remain at their current positions. Potential names being discussed for the head coach role include Jeff Brohm from Louisville and former Utah coach Kyle Whittingham.

The Wolverines are presented with a pivotal moment as they look to establish stability within the coaching staff. Embracing fresh ideas and leadership can potentially renew their competitive edge in the coming seasons.
