Michael Pitt has been arrested and charged with sexual abuse, as authorities allege that he committed multiple acts of domestic violence against his former girlfriend. The indictment indicates that these incidents occurred between April 2020 and August 2021, with claims that Pitt not only sexually assaulted her but also attacked her using various blunt objects on different occasions.
The alleged assaults reportedly took place in Pitt’s Bushwick home, where he is accused of fondling the victim and later striking her with a wooden plank and, at another time, a cinderblock. In total, Pitt faces several charges, including assault with a weapon, sexual motivation, strangulation, and sex abuse. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Pitt was apprehended on May 2 and subsequently released on $100,000 bail. Known for his role as Jimmy Darmody in the acclaimed series “Boardwalk Empire,” Pitt has also starred in productions such as “Hannibal,” “Hugo,” and “Dawson’s Creek.” His attorney, Jason Goldman, expressed his belief in Pitt’s innocence, stating that it is unfortunate that a respected professional can face such accusations based on what he describes as the “uncorroborated word” of an individual he considers unhinged.
While legal battles lie ahead, the case underscores the serious nature of domestic violence allegations, reinforcing the importance of addressing these issues within society. As the judicial process unfolds, it remains essential for all parties involved to have their cases fairly presented.
