Michael Keaton Considers a Name Change: What’s Behind the Move?

Actor Michael Keaton, originally named Michael Douglas, is contemplating a change to his professional name in the entertainment industry. In a recent interview, Keaton explained that he adopted a stage name during his early career in the 1970s due to a Screen Actors Guild rule that prevents multiple members from sharing the same name.

Although he does not specifically remember the origin of his chosen name, Keaton mentioned he likely just thought it sounded appropriate at the time. Over the years, he has established a successful career, featuring in popular films such as Birdman and portraying Batman. Now, he envisions using a blend of both his birth name and his stage name by introducing himself as Michael Keaton Douglas.

He even planned to use this combined name in the credits for his recent film, Knox Goes Away, but admitted that he simply forgot to make the necessary arrangements in time. Keaton stated, “It totally got away from me. I forgot to give them enough time to put it in and create that. But it will happen.”

Fans can look forward to seeing Michael Keaton in the upcoming sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which is set to be released over 35 years after the original film.
