Michael Jordan’s famed mansion in Highland Park is nearing the completion of its sale after being on the market for 12 years. The 32,683-square-foot estate went under contract last Sunday, according to reports.
Initially listed in 2012 for $29 million, the home saw a significant price reduction, with the last asking price in 2015 set at $14.85 million. The final sale price has yet to be disclosed.
Jordan acquired the seven-acre property in 1991, constructing the mansion in 1995 and later renovating it in 2009. The luxurious estate boasts an indoor regulation basketball court, a tennis court, a putting green, and a swimming pool. The residence features nine bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, an office, library, cigar room, five fireplaces, and a 14-car garage, all highlighted by a life-sized “23” at the entrance.
The mansion has remained a popular spot for fans and tourists alike, with locals noting the interesting sights of visitors in wedding attire or carrying basketballs. Speculation about the property’s future persists, with questions around potential changes, such as a museum or redevelopment.
Kofi Nartey, a luxury real estate agent, has been working to sell the property, emphasizing its design meant for luxury living. Meanwhile, Jordan continues to enjoy his other homes in Florida and North Carolina. The outcome of the sale and details about the buyer are still pending.
