Michael Jordan Debuts on NBC with MJ: Insights to Excellence

Michael Jordan, widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time, is set to make his debut as an NBC employee with a new series titled “MJ: Insights to Excellence,” which will air during the 2025-26 NBA season. Officially joining NBC earlier this year as a special contributor, Jordan will lend his expertise and insights to fans in a unique format.

NBC Sports officially announced on Monday that a segment from Jordan’s interview with Mike Tirico will premiere during halftime of the opening game on Tuesday, October 21. This kickoff game features the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder taking on the Houston Rockets, followed by the Golden State Warriors facing the Los Angeles Lakers. Both matchups will be available for viewing on NBC and Peacock.

Jordan’s upcoming role is a homecoming of sorts, as he has maintained a long history with the network. His six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s coincided with the NBA Finals airing on NBC. Most recently, he has made several appearances on the network discussing his endeavors as a NASCAR team owner, particularly with 23XI Racing, which he launched in 2021.

The 2025-26 NBA season marks a significant return for the league to NBC, following an 11-year media rights agreement that entails broadcasting 100 games throughout the regular season. The network will offer fans two primetime viewing opportunities each week, including Tuesday evenings and an exclusive doubleheader on Mondays via Peacock. Additionally, fans can look forward to Sunday Night Basketball and playoff coverage once the regular season concludes.

Michael Jordan’s transition to this new role promises to bring an exciting perspective to fans, enriching the viewing experience throughout the season. His insights and experiences are sure to resonate, adding depth to the analysis and entertainment surrounding the game.
