Mets Rally Late to Secure Fourth Straight Win Against Rockies

Following a successful sweep of the Rockies in New York, the Mets journeyed from Los Angeles, where they claimed two of four games against the Dodgers, to Colorado for another matchup against the Rockies.

Mets right-handed pitcher Kodai Senga, boasting a 6-3 record and a remarkable 1.59 ERA, took to the mound against Colorado’s setup of left-handed pitcher Ryan Rolison and right-handed pitcher Antonio Senzatela. Although Senga faced a challenging start, he ultimately delivered a solid performance, allowing just one earned run over five innings while striking out three.

The Rockies initially took the lead in the third inning with Mickey Moniak’s solo home run, putting them ahead 1-0. However, the Mets’ offense took a while to warm up, struggling to capitalize on scoring opportunities. They loaded the bases in the sixth but failed to convert, leaving three runners stranded.

In the seventh inning, the Mets finally broke through, sparked by Starling Marte’s second hit of the game. Juan Soto followed with a hit, setting the stage for Pete Alonso, who delivered a clutch line drive that scored both runners, flipping the score to 2-1 in favor of the Mets.

Colorado responded immediately, tying the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single from Moniak after a one-out triple by Sam Hilliard. However, in an exhilarating ninth inning, with Soto achieving his first three-hit game as a Met, Alonso walked to set up Francisco Lindor, who pinch-hit and delivered a two-run double that secured a 4-2 victory for New York.

The Mets finished the night with ten hits, with notable contributions from Soto, who went 3-for-4, and Alonso, who added two RBIs. Edwin Díaz closed the game with a scoreless ninth, earning his 14th save of the season and marking the Mets’ fourth consecutive victory over Colorado.

PLAYER OF THE GAME

Francisco Lindor earned player of the game honors for his clutch pinch-hit double that propelled the Mets to victory, exemplifying resilience despite enduring his injury.
