Mets Gear Up for Doubleheader: Can They Turn the Tide?

The New York Mets will have to adjust their plans as Monday’s series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers has been postponed due to severe storms around Citi Field. This game has been rescheduled and will now take place as part of a split doubleheader on Wednesday, with the first game scheduled for 1:10 p.m. and the second at 7:10 p.m.

Ticket holders for the originally scheduled game on Tuesday can use their tickets for the rescheduled game on Wednesday at 1:10 p.m. Fans who choose not to attend the afternoon match will receive a digital voucher for a future game in the 2025 season, excluding certain high-demand games, including the Subway Series and player number retirements.

Wednesday’s event will be the Mets’ first doubleheader at home this season, having previously played a doubleheader earlier in the season on May 4 against the Cardinals. The Mets and Brewers are set to complete their series with a game on Thursday night at 7:10 p.m.

The Mets find themselves in a challenging situation, having lost 13 of their last 16 games, including a weekend series sweep by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Manager Carlos Mendoza acknowledged the difficult stretch, attributing it partially to injuries but emphasizing the need for the team to work towards improvement. “I think there’s a combination of a lot of things – injuries – but I’m not going to sit here and make excuses. Every team will go through it. We got to continue to find a way to get out of it, and we will because we’ve got good players,” he stated.

In the upcoming games, Clay Holmes was expected to start for the Mets after a strong outing against the Braves, while Freddy Peralta was pegged to take the mound for the Brewers, having recently secured multiple wins with impressive performance statistics.

The highly anticipated matchup will feature rookie Blade Tidwell starting on Wednesday night against Brewers’ standout rookie Jacob Misiorowski, who has demonstrated a spectacular form this season.

This doubleheader presents an opportunity for the Mets to turn around their fortunes and capitalize on their talent as they battle through this tough phase. While the postponement is an inconvenience, it might also serve as a chance for the team to regroup and strategize for the games ahead.
