NEW YORK — The New York Mets are set to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2024 National League Championship Series, kicking off with Game 1 on Sunday.
This marks the Mets’ return to the NLCS for the first time since 2015, following their victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Division Series. They previously triumphed over the Milwaukee Brewers in an exciting three-game Wild Card series, propelling them into the postseason.
The winner of the best-of-seven series between the Mets and Dodgers will advance to the World Series, where they will compete against the American League champions. The Mets last claimed the World Series title in 1986. Historically, the Mets and Dodgers faced off in the 1988 NLCS, which the Dodgers won in seven games.
After defeating the Phillies in Game 4 of the National League playoffs, the Mets celebrated in their locker room at Citi Field.
In the American League, the New York Yankees are scheduled to play against either the Cleveland Guardians or the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS starting Monday.
