Metallica is set to make a meaningful contribution to community health by offering an exclusive T-shirt to those who donate blood or participate in a “power red” donation at an American Red Cross blood drive today. The event will take place at the Crystal City Doubletree, starting at noon, with limited supplies available.
This initiative is part of a larger partnership between Metallica and its All Within My Hands foundation, promoting a series of 11 blood drives nationwide as the band embarks on its “M72” tour, which will arrive at Northwest Stadium on Wednesday.
In addition to this charitable effort, Metallica has established significant connections with the Washington, D.C. area. Earlier this year, the band acquired a majority share in Furnace Record Pressing, a prominent vinyl-record plant based in Alexandria. Moreover, in 2023, they made an appearance at the Library of Congress’s Gershwin Prize for Popular Song concert, which honored music legends Elton John and Bernie Taupin.
