WESTFIELD — The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a recall of ready-to-eat frozen meatballs distributed to Aldi locations nationwide, including the Westfield branch. This action was prompted by potential contamination with foreign materials, specifically metal, in the product.

Employees at the Westfield Aldi reported that they promptly removed the affected items from shelves following notification about the recall. “We don’t take chances,” one staff member emphasized regarding consumer safety.

The recall affects approximately 9,462 pounds of fully cooked frozen meatball products produced by Rosina Food Products, Inc. on July 30, 2025. The specific items involved are 32-ounce packages of “Bremer FAMILY SIZE ITALIAN STYLE MEATBALLS,” which include around 64 meatballs per package. Customers should check for packages labeled with a “BEST BY” date of “10/30/26” and timestamps noted on the back of the packaging, ranging from 17:08 to 18:20. These products bear the establishment number “EST. 4286B” within the USDA mark of inspection and have a shelf life of 15 months.

The issue surfaced after FSIS received consumer complaints indicating the presence of metal fragments in the meatballs. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported as a result of consuming the products. Nonetheless, people who are concerned about potential health risks should seek advice from a healthcare provider.

To ensure public safety, consumers who have purchased the recalled meatballs are urged not to consume them. Instead, they should either dispose of the products or return them to the store where they were purchased. FSIS conducts thorough checks to confirm that companies effectively inform customers of such recalls and take necessary actions to remove the products from circulation.

For further information, consumers can check the FSIS website for updates regarding the recall distribution list or reach out to the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) for food safety inquiries. Concerns regarding meat, poultry, or egg products can also be reported through the online Electronic Consumer Complaint Monitoring System, available 24/7.
