On Wednesday afternoon, users across Facebook and Instagram reported widespread issues accessing both platforms. Downdetector, a service that monitors internet outages based on user feedback, identified a significant disruption in Meta’s services starting between 11:30 a.m. and noon.

At approximately 12 p.m., there were nearly 100,000 reports of issues on Facebook, predominantly affecting app users. Instagram faced around 70,000 complaints, while WhatsApp had about 10,000 reports of disruptions. Fortunately, by 2:30 p.m., the number of complaints had significantly decreased, with Facebook reports dropping to 17,000, Instagram to 22,000, and WhatsApp to fewer than 400.

In response to these issues, Instagram’s official account on X confirmed awareness of the problem and mentioned that they are actively working to resolve it. Additionally, some Facebook users encountered a query error message when trying to access the platform. This error is often due to the app’s inability to retrieve data from Meta’s servers, which can happen because of various app or browser glitches that are usually beyond the user’s control.

Despite the temporary setbacks faced by users, the swift acknowledgment and response from Instagram indicate a commitment to restoring service as quickly as possible. This optimism suggests that a prompt solution is on the horizon, reflecting the resilience of these communication platforms.
