The actor, 69, originally bought the expansive hilltop property in 2008 for $11.5 million and has attempted to sell it on a couple of occasions, with the last listing in 2019 for $14.5 million.
Following the fire in January that devastated his home, Gibson expressed frustration with California Governor Gavin Newsom’s wildfire management. He emphasized that upon returning to his residence, he discovered it completely burned, with only remnants like chimneys and roof tiles remaining. Recent photos reveal that Gibson has commenced construction on a new foundation, intending to mirror the warm, inviting design of the previous estate. The original mansion, known for its wood-beamed ceilings and spacious layout, included five bedrooms and offered 6,578 square feet of living space.
