DENVER — Authorities in Denver are actively investigating a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Saturday morning, resulting in serious injuries to a pedestrian. The police have launched a Medina Alert for a 2010 white Toyota Corolla, Colorado license plate EDM U42, linked to the incident.
The collision took place near the intersection of Federal Boulevard and W. Kentucky Avenue, leading to the closure of southbound lanes as investigators processed the scene. According to reports, the pedestrian was utilizing a crosswalk when they were struck by the vehicle, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Following the accident, the driver fled the scene, traveling northbound on Federal Boulevard. The Corolla is described as a four-door sedan and may have sustained slight to moderate damage to its front bumper.
The Medina Alert system is named in memory of Jose Medina, a 21-year-old valet driver who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run in 2011. This system aims to quickly inform the public about suspects involved in such incidents to aid in their apprehension. In a previous notable case involving a hit-and-run, a taxi driver was able to follow the suspect, noting their license plate, which ultimately led to the driver’s arrest.
The Denver Police Department urges anyone with information regarding this incident or the vehicle in question to come forward to assist in their ongoing investigation. Such community vigilance can play a crucial role in ensuring public safety and bringing those responsible to justice.
