A person who has tested positive for measles recently frequented several businesses in Collin County from May 19 to May 22, raising concern among health officials. The Collin County Health Care Services has issued a notification regarding the exposure risk associated with this individual.
The affected locations and times are as follows:
– 24 Hour Fitness at 1601 N. Hardin Blvd., McKinney on May 19 from 4:30 to 9 p.m. and on May 21 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Health authorities are collaborating with the Texas Department of State Health Services to monitor the situation closely. “Measles is a highly contagious disease that can be spread through the air or via contaminated surfaces,” the Health Care Services stated. The virus can linger in the air for up to two hours after an infected person has vacated the area, highlighting the severity of potential health risks.
Individuals who visited these locations during the specified time frame are urged to be vigilant for any signs of measles, which include:
– Fever
– Dry cough
– Runny nose
– Sore throat
– Inflamed eyes
– Koplik’s spots (small white spots with bluish-white centers found inside the mouth)
– A skin rash characterized by large, flat blotches
This situation emphasizes the importance of vaccination and public health awareness. Despite the potential for serious health complications, the public can take steps to protect themselves and others by recognizing symptoms and seeking medical advice when necessary. Being alert and informed goes a long way in preventing further spread of the disease in the community.
