McLaren Racing, under the leadership of CEO Zak Brown, is enjoying a remarkable resurgence in Formula 1 as it leads both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships in 2025. This impressive turnaround stems from Brown’s vision since he took the helm in 2018, transforming McLaren from a struggling team to a competitive force in the racing arena.
In a recent interview with Canadian broadcaster TSN, Brown highlighted the team’s broader ambitions, indicating that recent successes are only the start of McLaren’s journey. He expressed a strong desire to achieve victories not only in Formula 1 but also in the IndyCar series and the upcoming World Endurance Championship (WEC) program set to launch in 2027.
Brown is targeting multiple championships, stating, “Our ultimate goal is to win the Indy 500, win the IndyCar championship, win the Formula 1 constructors’ championship and drivers’ championship, win Le Mans, and win the World Endurance Championship. We’ve only been able to do one of those so far,” referencing the 2024 constructors’ title, which ended a 26-year wait for the team.
The momentum in IndyCar is also a highlight, with Pato O’Ward recently securing a victory in Toronto, marking Arrow McLaren’s second win of the season. Brown expressed optimism for the team’s position, currently fifth in the championship, and voiced confidence in their new facility in Indiana, which is expected to enhance operational efficiency and overall performance.
“As we move into our new shop, we expect a significant improvement in our setup,” Brown explained. “This facility will allow us better resources and technology, improving the environment for our team and making it more conducive to high performance.”
Recognizing the autonomous nature of each program under his leadership, Brown emphasized the importance of allowing the individual teams to operate independently while maintaining oversight to add value where necessary. His strategic approach aims to ensure that each division thrives while contributing to the overall success of McLaren Racing.
The future looks promising for McLaren as it continues to build on its recent achievements and push toward new heights across various motorsport platforms. With ambitious goals in place, the team appears well-positioned to make an impact in upcoming seasons, reflecting a hopeful outlook for fans and supporters alike.
