McDonald’s has introduced a new sandwich called the Chicken Big Mac, which will be available nationwide starting Thursday, October 10, for a limited time.
The Chicken Big Mac is an adaptation of the classic Big Mac, featuring two tempura chicken patties instead of beef. It also omits onions, providing a different experience reminiscent of two large Chicken McNuggets.
This new sandwich has previously been tested in international markets such as the U.K. and had a trial run in Miami in 2022. Recently, it was showcased in Los Angeles during a pop-up dining experience called “McDonnell’s,” as reported by McDonald’s in a press release.
In terms of taste, the Chicken Big Mac is quite messy and may not be the best option for eating while driving. The flavors of the Big Mac, which include patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and bun, largely overshadow the chicken’s distinct taste. The predominant flavors come from the sauce and the tempura breading, and with the substantial amount of bread, it’s a unique sandwich overall.
Though it doesn’t surpass the original Big Mac or McDonald’s other novelty sandwiches like the McRib, it is still a worthy option to try.
Regarding nutrition, the Chicken Big Mac contains 530 calories, which is 26.5% of the daily value. It also includes 20 grams of total fat, 61 grams of carbohydrates, and 25 grams of protein.
