McDonald’s has introduced a new sandwich called the Chicken Big Mac, which will be available nationwide starting Thursday, October 10, for a limited time.
The Chicken Big Mac closely resembles the traditional Big Mac, featuring two tempura chicken patties in place of the signature beef patties, and it omits onions. This sandwich had previously been tested in international markets, including the U.K., and in Miami in 2022.
Recently, the Chicken Big Mac was showcased in Los Angeles at a pop-up dining event under the name “McDonnell’s,” as reported by the fast-food chain.
When it comes to taste, caution is advised; it’s not recommended to eat this sandwich while driving due to its potential for messiness. While the original Big Mac is often praised for its convenience to eat on the go, the Chicken Big Mac is notably more difficult to manage. The sandwich maintains a blend of flavors, including patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and buns, making it challenging to distinctly taste the chicken patties. The overall flavor profile is dominated by the sauce and the tempura breading, resulting in a surprisingly good novelty option despite its bread-heavy composition.
In terms of comparison, while the Chicken Big Mac is an intriguing twist, it does not surpass the classic Big Mac or the popular McRib in terms of McDonald’s novelty offerings. However, it is still deemed a worthy item to try.
