McDonald’s is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its iconic McMuffin by introducing a spicy twist to its breakfast menu. Starting July 8, customers can enjoy three new offerings: the Spicy McMuffin, Spicy Sausage McMuffin, and Spicy Sausage McMuffin with Egg. Each of these items combines traditional ingredients like cheese, egg, Canadian bacon or sausage, and a buttered English muffin, all enhanced with a new Spicy Pepper Sauce.
The introduction of the Egg McMuffin in 1975 by franchisee Herb Peterson marked the beginning of McDonald’s breakfast menu as we know it today. Peterson aimed to create a convenient version of Eggs Benedict, an idea that gained the enthusiastic approval of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc.
In addition to the breakfast offerings, McDonald’s has also rolled out a new burger called the Daily Double. This burger features two beef patties, American cheese, shredded lettuce, slivered onions, mayo, and tomatoes. After a successful limited-market test in cities like Chicago and Seattle, the Daily Double is now available nationwide and will remain on the menu until 2025. Customers will also find this burger included in the McValue Meal Deal options starting July 22, alongside a 4-piece Chicken McNuggets, small fries, and a small soft drink, priced depending on location.
The Daily Double is featured in the McDonald’s app, where customers can enjoy additional deals, including a free medium fries with a $1 purchase every Friday through the end of 2025.
These new menu items not only signify McDonald’s commitment to innovation amidst its rich history but also promise to delight customers looking for exciting new flavors during their breakfast or lunch.
