McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several additional weeks following a successful initial launch period. According to a memo, most of the company’s U.S. locations will continue to offer the deal, which began on June 25, and it will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, with some extending the promotion until August.
As food prices remain high and consumers face financial pressures, this meal bundle has proven to be beneficial for McDonald’s. A report by foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai revealed that the introduction of the $5 deal significantly increased customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants.
The successful promotion has prompted other fast-casual dining chains to respond with their own value deals. Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell, in June, announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box while maintaining its $5 Taco Discovery Box alongside its Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King, in late May, announced that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” would continue longer than the McDonald’s offer, and it also revealed new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Additionally, Wendy’s has introduced a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo option known as the “Biggie Bag.”
