McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several additional weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most of its U.S. locations have agreed to prolong the promotion, which was originally launched on June 25 and had a planned duration of four weeks.
The meal bundle will still be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the nation, although the length of availability may differ by location, with some extending the offer through August.
As consumers face increased food prices, especially in the fast casual dining segment, this bundle has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. A recent analysis by foot traffic analytics company Placer.ai showed a notable increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations shortly after the launch of the bundle, indicating its popularity among diners.
This success has also prompted rival fast casual chains to respond with their own promotions. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box and continues to offer its $5 Taco Discovery Box along with its Cravings Value Menu.
Moreover, Burger King said it would extend its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle to outlast McDonald’s promotion. Earlier this month, it also unveiled new items for its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has entered the competition with its $3 breakfast bundle and has also introduced a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
